GP Lyon, France - May 2007

Lyon_podium
The best track we saw ever, period!
CAMSE is the name of this club and they are situated close to Lyon at the Saint Exupery airport.
66 drivers came down to this place to battle for the first off-road GP of the year 2007.
Though the journey was long, it proved to be worth every minute.

Saturday business as usual. Ken, Curt, Johnny and Andreas qualified all rather easy for the half finals. Eric made it to the 1/4th finals. All did bode well for some good racing action on Sunday.

Eric was the first to drive. He went quickly through the field and was well on track to progress further. But after 10 minutes his rear shocktower broke in 2 pieces. 2 years of hard beating in competition circumstances was fatal, exit Eric.

Andreas, Ken and Curt went through the half finals rather easy. Johnny had to come to the pit twice with a rear shocker issue. Then a tyre needed to be changed and too much time was lost as others all kept driving along.
Johnny's dream ended here but he came down from the rostrum with a smile from ear to ear, he had an excellent weekend of racing and was happy with the performance of his new car.

No mercy in the final for Ken and his electronics. After 9 rounds he had to step down. A burned throttle brake servo was the cause.
Andreas was well on track and moving up through the field and was getting closer to 2nd spot. Then his rear shocker jammed, somewhat later his wheel needed to be changed. To complete the fun his servosaver got stuck. We decided to call it a day and stopped repairing his car. 2 down and out.

Curt made his debut and had to learn to know the car. He proved to learn fast. He started 9th on the grid and was moving up slowly but steady. He made the chequered flag in 3rd place but received the trophy for 2nd place as the GP was a combined race for the French championship as well. Anyway 2nd or 3rd, this is an excellent debut of Turc Elivennos!

Hannes Kaufler, the current German champion, was a class of his own. He qualified for pole and was the true winner of this GP. The demonstration he gave in the half final and final was of a very high level.
Hannes congratulations!

Michel Peuziat (Hobbycenter) finished in the final race on 2nd spot.

He showed his experience on dirt tracks and drove an excellent race. He did win the Promo class for the France championship.
Michel, well done!
