Powercup 2007

The 5 year lustrum of the powercup promised to be a big event. It was big, huge, a cracker, hot and above all fun. Ken and Tim were sharp & focussed. Both used their head in the final resulting in an excellent 1st and 2nd place. Some impression (25MB WARNING!) of the event can be found HERE. |
Andreas could not prepare himself well for racing, but did a tremendous job for the team on testing shock absorbers, he went out in the half final.
Curt got hit in his quarter final and a shocker was heavily damaged and unrepairable, exit Truc Ellivennos.
Johnny is carrying the devil on his shoulder. He was dominant and his car was running smoother than ever before. But his wheel decided different.
Ken and Tim directly qualified in their half final and came 1st and 2nd. This boded for a good result. In the other half final big favorites went out. Rene Kuipers, title defender was well on his way towards the final but dropped out with a traction problem. Bruce Thompson being fast all weekend suffered an electronical problem and had to go down from the rostrum as well.
Pole position for Ken and a 3rd place on the grid for Tim. Tim went out and felt the rear of his car was not right, a 5 minute delay was asked and he had to start all the way in the back now.
Ken used the good old Patje theory again, "take the lead at the first corner and never look back".
He stepped on the gas the first 2 rounds without taking risks and furtheron cruised his way to the chequered flag. His new PaSe engine did exactly what it had to do. It proved to be reliable, fast and at the end Ken had more than enough fuel left, thanks Pascal for your support during the weekend!
Tim started in last spot but was well under way and after 5 rounds he had moved up to second spot. He kept a save lead till the end, an excellent 1st and 2nd place was secured. Kay Koops, a young talent marched forward and took place 3.
Congrats guys and well done!
Thanks to all that made this event possible.
We already look forward towards the 2008 edition!
